Affiliate programs are a great way to earn some extra income, oreven a full time income for yourself, but they're not foreveryone. As with any job, or business opportunity, you need todecide if you have the characteristics and abilities that wouldmake you a good affiliate. If you don't posess these traits, youmay want to consider going in a different direction with yourbusiness.
Working at home seems like a dream job for a lot of people, butsome of us need to be around others. As an affiliate you don'thave co-workers or a boss. Most people would love this, but ifyou're a really social person you may not like working at homeby yourself. You may also be someone who works better underpressure. You need deadlines, and someone telling you what todo, and when to do it. These types of people need a boss, andthey probably wouldn't do very well as an affiliate, sinceyou're the one who has to say what to do, and then actually doit.
Of course you'll have people helping you out and encouraging youas an affiliate, but most of this is done via email, andpossibly over the phone. There's not a lot of actual contact ina physical sense, when you work online. So if you crave thatsort of interaction, the online business world may not be foryou.
Time management could also be a problem for some people. If youhave a job, you're at work for a certain amount of hours in aday. It's easier for some to apply themselves while they're in awork space or office, that's separte from their personal livingspace. If your office is your home, you could easily getdistracted and not work as hard as you should. If you find ithard to motivate yourself, working at home online may be tougherfor you to succeed at.
For most people the advantages of being in business for yourselfgreatly outweigh the negatives. However, you do need to evaluateyour strengths and weaknesses to determine if you'd make a goodboss for yourself. As an affiliate, everything you make isdetermined by everything you do. There's no one to blame foryour failures, but yourself. On the plus side though, there's noone to blame for your successes but you either.
It may seem like a dream come true to work from home, withminimal expenses as an affiliate, but that dream can become anightmare if you don't focus and really put everything into yourbusiness. You definately want to be earning at least what you'respending on advertising, and hopefully a lot more. If you can'tapply yourself and really promote your new business like youshould, you'll end up spending more money than you're bringingin. If this happens it's very easy for people to give up andlabel their business as a failure. So before you jump intoanything, you want to make sure you have what it takes. It willtake some time, but it will be worth it in the end if you juststick to it, and do something that focuses on your strengths
